U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville, along with Senators J.D. Vance and Mike Lee, penned a letter to Department of Justice officials expressing concerns over the administration's alleged failure to protect American workers from employment practices that favor asylum seekers, parolees, and other aliens over U.S. citizens. The Senators emphasized the importance of enforcing the Immigration and Nationality Act to prioritize American workers in hiring practices.

The letter addressed the need for the Department of Justice to uphold its duty to prevent discrimination against American workers based on citizenship status. The Senators highlighted a discrepancy in the enforcement of anti-discrimination provisions, pointing out that a significant portion of resources seemed to be allocated to protecting non-citizens rather than prioritizing U.S. citizens in the workforce.

Notably, the Senators raised issues regarding the shift in focus of the Immigrant and Employee Rights Section away from protecting American workers following the revocation of the "Buy American and Hire American" executive order. They called attention to instances where companies, such as Starbucks, Amazon, Hyatt Hotels, PepsiCo, and Pfizer, have committed to hiring refugees with numerical quotas, potentially excluding American job seekers.

The Senators posed a series of questions to the Civil Rights Division and the Immigrant and Employee Rights Section, seeking clarification on the enforcement of federal laws to safeguard the interests of U.S. citizens in the workforce. They requested responses to these inquiries by May 31, 2024, to ensure accountability and adherence to the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Senator Tommy Tuberville, representing Alabama in the United States Senate, has been actively advocating for legislation that prioritizes American workers' interests in various sectors, including electoral college votes and visa programs. His efforts underscore the importance of upholding the rights of U.S. citizens in the face of challenges posed by discriminatory employment practices favoring illegal immigrants.
